Company
A homeless once told me, “Theatre is only loved by those who make it.” And that’s how Homo Absurdus was born.
We are the ones who make theatre.
We are a company that tells stories from a place of utter comfort. We’re in no hurry, we’re not going anywhere—because we already live in paradise.
At Homo Absurdus, we have no direction.
Not because we’ve lost our way,
but because we don’t need one.
Where could we possibly go, if we’re already there?
Founded in Madrid by Ferran Plana, a Catalan who studied Engineering before turning to acting. He’s joined at the heart of his productions by equally absurd collaborators: Bhagawati Padrissa, Cayetana Payno, Cristina Bertol, and Esther Martín.
We make theatre.
Theatre that’s accessible to every kind of audience
so that the public isn’t made up solely of our complacent fellow actors.
We want theatre to be a common ground for reflection, through humour, poetry, and philosophy. We aim to question what’s established and to free bodies from oppression.
That said, if the audience doesn’t like it we stop the play and look for an alternative. Our top priority is for the audience to have a good time. And, above all, that our parents finally understand what we do, so they can at last be proud of us.
Our casts have been carefully chosen from among our closest friends.
We have nothing to lose, except the chance to devour the stage.
Theatre for those who dosn’t like it
